What do you guys think of Evanescence? For those that haven't heard of them, or *think* they haven't heard their music - they were the band who played 2 of the sound tracks in the movie 'DareDevil' which is the way they got recognized for their talent. I say talent, in my opinion, the main singer (Amy Lee) has the best voice I have EVER heard, and that is no exageration. Their debut album "Fallen" has some amazing tracks on it. "Bring Me to Life" is NOT the best track on the album! Their music is new, and a great mixture of a great singing voice; and some excellent 'metal guitar' music, with great base lines in the background. I haven't heard them mentioned much on this board, so I thought I'd get other people's opinions, see what they think? Later

a) There isn't a song called 'Eternal' on the album. b) There isn't a song on the album that has 7 and a half minutes of no singing. If you don't know anything about the band, why did you comment?

A few things. Yes, Amy has an amazing voice. No, Fallen is not their debut album. It is just their first album with Wind-Up. They released several albums out before being signed... Whisper, and Origin (as well as a demo under the name "Evanescence"). Eternal is from the CD "Origin", and yes it is 7 and a half minutes (but it is track 11 on that CD). It's also not the only long song they have done with little to no vocals... unfortunately, they were under restrictions from Wind-Up for "Fallen", and had to keep to some Guidelines. One of their VERY first singles was 8 minutes long... Yeah, Ben is an awesome Guitarist... some of their older stuff is great, because it really shows her range and his skill... I'm waiting for Wind-Up to really let them go. And the only thing that really makes BMTL worth listening to still, is the fact that it features Paul. other than that, I'm rather sick of the song... live, or otherwise.

Hell, even I'll admit that their demo's are still in the rotation, whereas "Fallen" went back on the rack. Of course, even after a year and a half, 12 Stones is still in there...

my post was meant to be serious, lol
..i just saw them beeing played in channels (mp3) that often and then i heard the song myself and was like :\\\\
alex.. ..yep, some ppl might say so.. ..same ppl that might have thought nirvana brought up ANYTHING new, l(away from the fact that they where in the charts, lmfao).. ..it s just that i dislike 99% of the stuff in charts or on mtv.. ..if that qualifies me for a bad taste i m glad to say that i have it =)
it s average for me, nothing else.. ..if you re used to mtv and charts it may sound more interesting than other boring , not innovative and consumer friendly stuff.. ..but if you re scale is another, seee it like it is.. ..average bands for a wide public (yes, i m kinda grateful too that the big companies kinda "owned" subculture and made it mainstream, just because soemtimes i have to listen radio.. ..but at the end of the day it s mainstream, lol.. ..if you think they are stylish or hip or make anyhting - new wake up =p)
