I FINALLY SAW IT
*was dying to read this thread
*
first thing I'd like to say is that it really rocked, w00t
coolest movie (except LOTR and maybe the Gladiator) ever
second ... how can we be sure Neo IS dead ... w0rd thinks that he's dead cause 'the body can't live without the mind', 'The machines shoot electrical charges into him' and, 'He explodes in the matrix'
I didn't see his mind die
did any of u?!
... and besides if something is a huge commercial succes ... there is a great chance there will be another followup (I know the wachowski (or whatever) bro's don't want to ... but who sais they still don't want in about 10 years
) and for the film part, throughout the film there are signs indicating there will be another film someday ... I can name some
1. the little girl nita mentions, I had the feeling the oracle was preparing that girl to become the new oracle
2. machine city survives, Zion survives, the mainframe survives, the oracle survives and the peace between machines and humans is very unstable
and the architect's last words indicate that he also thinks the peace is not everlasting. The mainframe is a machine ... the oracle asks; do I have ur word, he answers, do u think I'm human or something
and walks away, same for the machines, what is their promise worth and for how long
3. (there are more but this will be the last one I name) the jezus comparison ... when neo is plugged in the machine city he looks like he is crusified, just like jezus was back in his days, if they position the next movie 2000 years later they can use neo as their guideline, just like some ppl do nowadays with jezus.
and an old saying goes like; a person only dies when nowone thinks about him/her anymore, so when I die, I continue 'living' in my parents, friends and others minds, so does neo in morpeus, link, niobi, zee, and loads of others minds ...
(and in ours
) so in my opinion ... the body CAN live without the mind, and who said that a follow up would be with Neo or Trinity in it ...
how I see the next 'Matrix' is like ... 1000 years later, the peace with the machines is over, a new war is ahead, ppl remember Neo like a messias who could walk on water, saved the world and had cool sunglasses
a new group of persons (with probably a descendant from Morpheus and Niobi or Link and Zee) believe in an ideal, and will try to do everything within their power to end the war between the machines and Zion, a new programm similar to Agent Smith (allthough more complex) will be created and launched in the matrix ... it is up to the wachowski brothers to enlight us again with the details and a philosophic background picture, and of course with the use of the newest and breaking technologies ... the only thing they will have to do is wait 10 years in order to give the rest of the filmmakers the chance to reach their current level of movie making ;D:P
and back to the point, an electrical charge also doesn't kill always
and Agent Smith also explodes ... the oracle in him survived, like others
and for the equation thing ...
it's probably based on the ecosystem I guess ... everything finally comes to some sort of balance, every factor within a system contributes to this balance, no disticntion is made between good or bad ...
a philosopher once stated that a select group of ppl with the talent to kill others build a society for others, we use to call them soldiers ... (Neo, Morpheus, Seraph, etc), another one said that every society is build on the bodies of the ppl working hardest to achieve it (Neo, Trinity, the captain in that robot thing, the girl who, together with zee, destroyed the digger, etc), and another one ... I can go on for hours, the cool thing about the matrix is that they put so many 'things to think about' in it, what is love?, what is life?, what are emotions and are they good or bad?, can u speak of good and bad, what is bad and what is good? ...
why did Agent Smith called the Oracle 'mom' just before he made her him?
can't humans live without machines ... or can't machines live without humans?
eveything that has a beginning, has an end, but is an end not also a new beginning?
are we really able to make choices or are they made for us?
is life not the same as a matrix within a matrix within a maxtrix within ... going on endlessly?
do we live while we live and dream while we dream or do we live while we dream and dream while we live?
... ?
(ps. I really loved the matrix, hope there once will be a matrix 4
