so you should be proud because as i said - technically it's very good piece of work.
the comments, which obviously you have taken very negatively, are pertaining to my own personal taste and you shouldnt take offence.

The changes you've made to the picture add even more of a mystic appearance to the face and at the same time make the character seem more regal through the illusion of a crown on his head. The background accentuates the face, and further brings out the subtle symbols & symbolism I see portrayed in it.
Perhaps the only part I would suggest altering is the bit coming out of his head that forms part of the "crown" and maybe blending it more to mirror the blue & gold at the bottom of the face, so it's not quite so pronounced; either way I am impressed with the piece you've created & am looking forward to more.

it doesn't appeal to me.. Yeah you've mentioned it numerous times already. So whats your point of putting so much energy into something you don't like?

i dunno, its pretty but i think i prefer john constable paintings , lol Ironic that you should choose John Constable as a preferred artist. He too stepped away from creating his art the same way as his peers, and was alienated for it. In fact it took several years and alot of dedication before he was begrudingly acknowledged as an equal by his peers at the Royal Academy Schools in England. While he wasn't the most widely sold artist of the Romance era, he was certainly innovative and had courage enough to apply thought to his talent.
Exile chose to share some of what he is working towards with those he considered to be his peers. While you're all certainly entitled to your opinions, it's a shame you have to display them in such negative ways instead of offering some good constructive feedback.
Such behaviour seen repeatedly on a forum would certainly make a person new to the genre apprehensive about even attempting to share his or her work here let alone ask for any help when the most prevalent comments come in the way of negativity.
Producing meaningful artwork, like writing or any other field for that matter, takes passion as well as knowledge. The gaining of knowledge in a field is usually resultant from the passion a person feels for their chosen field. They are willing to put in the time and investment to learn the skills needed to fulfill their passions and stride towards their goals. The work that results is a part of the person's being, something that came usually from their heart, not just their mind.
Something some here should perhaps consider carefully before offering any type of feedback is objectivity and knowledge of what they are commenting on before following through with a post.

art is personal choice. sometimes knowing the artist's motivation may make a difference when forming an opinion on whether a piece is desirable or otherwise. often it wont.
art to me should make an impression in that first instance. yes, i agree upon studying closer i may change my mind or indeed find things i like or dislike. but i normally form an opinion in that first moment. my eyes open wide from the wow factor or i may find myself recoiling in distaste.
i recoiled from this piece of exiles. some of his pieces i passionately approve of, i use them as desktops or i have printed them in all their colourful glory, as much as i have a right to love them, i have a right to not like others.
we arent a professional organisation here. most of us just love to tinker and play with graphics applications. for a majority of us, exile is not one of our "graphics" peers, he is far and beyond any level of expertise we may experience. drawing correlations between him and constable are highly irrelevant to me because of that fact.
ppl know what they like and what they dont like and they dont have to always offer a reasoning for it.
artists all over receive criticism, i know exile has received it before and will receive it again, i also think he will take all he receives on board and improve and/or change his next piece that he decides to show.
if you are not prepared to have your work judged harshly then you shouldnt show it. you cant just take the glory.
