Have any of you ever heard of this chat site before?
www.x9chat.com/
Check it out and leave me some feedback on what yal think. I have been hearing some ppl say it's hard to access and connect, others say it's cool and kinda like a MSN klone look alike. lol
I dunno. Haven't checked it out yet.
EDit= So far I am not impressed. I can't even get the chat download to go. Kinda hard to find out if it is a nice chat if you can't even get the download to run smoothly.

I think you have to change your Internet Security Settings to download the OCX which sounds a bit dodgy and something you shouldn't have to do

Other than the fact that most of the stuff doesn't work link-wise, it looks oddly like a certain website that came up under debate a few weeks ago on the Msn Chat Network. I thought I would try connecting with a third party program like mIRC to check the network itself out (since the website was, imo, a rip). Discover that the Help linkn won't work, the forum link won't work, and irc.x9chat.com won't resolve (just using x9chat.com times out). I refuse to lower my ActiveX security any further than it is already (currently on prompt). Oddly enough, that was the only site I *ever* got told that my ActiveX settings were too high. I'm guessing this means they won't sign their chat applet. No thanks, if it's not signed, it's obviously not secure enough for me to even bother. All in all, the concept has potential, but they need to actually make something on the site work before they consider going public. Maybe then, I'll check it again. But so far, it's looking like just another number in the crowd.

You made some really good strong points there Draco. Glad I posted this instead of going for the plunge without knowing the risk.

Gotta love how on their front page, how it says "We are looking for a VB programmer to create a client / ocx and in return we will make you admin" wow what a reward, lol.

That's just it, Draconis. It is simply another number in the crowd. There are far to many IRC servers being created since MSN became subscription only...

Hmm, try using their search engine to do a search. It says powered by X9 Search then you do a search, and ends up on an MSN search result page
