ok heres something new... when exploring the amazon jungle, professor fossil was seized by hostile natives who told him he could make one final statement which would determine how he would die, if the statment he made was fale he would be boiled in water, if it was true he would be fried in oil, since fossil found neither option too attractive, so made a statement that got him out of this seemingly impossible situation, what is the one statement he could have made? remember to explain your answer so i know u aint cheating

i just wanted to start thinking when i realized that i don t understand the question, lol
the professor is asked to say any kind of statment he wants and if it is false/true then he will be cooked/fried ?
..or in other words: the question is to find a statement that can t be proved false or true ?

he could've said a statement that is possible true but on the other hand can be argued whether it is true or not, so basically leaving them in a muddle of what to do as there are two sides to the statement..
as for the statement, can't think of one...

"I LIE ALL THE TIME"
IF TRUE: if he does lie all the time then the statement would mean the truth is he doesnt lie. but he just lied. IF FALSE: if he doesnt lie then he just lied about lieing all the time. but he just lied.
;D

you need to say the friggin question, what is it that he could say to make it so the people who want to kill him cant do either way so they are forced to let him go...

ok to clear it up... "I LIE ALL THE TIME" now if he did lie then he woiuld be telling the truth making the statment false meaning he would be boiled in oil the other way round he would end up being boiled in water because his statment would be truth rather then lies and because they cannot know wheather he is lying or telling the truth it does not affect their pratice so they can choose how to kill him or take his word for it and do this. therefore the only way you can free the professor is to make your answer directly todo with the way in which they will kill him by contradicting him ok now try again and make sure you give the statment he gives unlike snink who made an overall judgement

close enough... the statment fossil would make is... "you will boil me in water", the natives are faced with a dialemma, if they boil him in water that would make his statment true so they should have fried him in oil, and if it was false they would need to have boiled him in water rather then frying him in oil

if i was one of those natives i would just slash him up and say to hell with his stupid contradiction.
