THIS IS CHUCK'S ANSWER HE WANTED ME TO POST ITbr] Attach the clip at the head of the ruler and bend one side of the clip like a hook.... bang the head of the ruler on the ball.... if the clip has pierced through the ball, then pull it out.
THIS ONE IS MINE BELOW THOUGH: lol
Perhaps he takes the mirror and breaks it, making a sharp edge, and then lowers it in attached to the ruler... the string to the ruler.. and he swings it and jabs the ball.. makes a hole, then he pulls it up and adds the paper clip to the string taking off the glass, and sticks it in the side of the hole in the ball, pulling it out?

haha Ohio, ONly true if you believe in a hoax
Here is more on CHUCKS explanation to his answer above..
no if the clip punctures the hole and one of it's head goes inside the ball it will act like a hook. saysbr]thats why I said bend one side of the clip like a hook.

a paper clip cant puncture a ping pong ball, theres not enough pressure and the clip would buckle under it , you try it and see how hard it is even with your strength, anyway z00ey is on the right lines but nope no windows cause its sealed but u are so close man

ok.. my basic thought was all that crap is useless and we need liquid to fill up the pipe and though the ball will come up.. ..but since there is no toilet and wash-basin and no wholes in the ceiling or window.. ..there is nothing much remaining to get liquids, lol
..so either the guy sweats like hell, or he cuts himself with the broken mirror and bleeds the pipe full.. ..or he *looks up for a nicer word in dictionary* ..or he urinates into the pipe till ball is open.. ..all not very tasteful but effective, lol

a paper clip cant puncture a ping pong ball, theres not enough pressure and the clip would buckle under it , you try it and see how hard it is even with your strength It's not hard to puncture a ping-pong ball, it's not hard like a cricket ball and it's not as soft as squash ball... it's difficult explain in words, but if you were here I could have shown to you. You can try it yourself... if you have wooden ruler, you can firmly fix a clip to it. You can make the head of the clip pointed like "V" place the rule on top of the ball and place the mirror on top of the ruler so you don't hurt your hand, then smack it with full force... the clip will go right through the ping pong ball. You can try it.

i don t see that you can "firmly fix" the clip so that it won t go backwards when you "smack with full force".. ...but even if (doubt it).. ..the clip won t make two wholes into the ball, it would be more like cutting it horizontal (due to the "V" form) so i can t see how to get it up then (ball would just drop) (even when you press it against the pipes wall it (clip) would just bend.. and ball drops.. *shrugs*
..all in all i think it would either go backwards or just spread wide open.. ..and in worst case you would smash the ball with the ruler, lol

"i don t see that you can "firmly fix" the clip" You can firmly fix a clip to a wooden ruler, wooden rulers are soft... if it was a plastic ruler than it would have been a problem. Also depends on the shape of the clip.
"clip won t make two wholes into the ball, it would be more like cutting it horizontal (due to the "V" form)"
It's not exactly like "V", i don't know how to put this in words. The idea is to make the clip's head easy to penetrate and once it's inside the ball it shouldn't let the ball slip back.
As for the ball going down he didn't say that there is a hole below the pipe... in that case even water (or anyother fluid) wouldn't work neither.
He didn't mention the length of the ruler either, that gives the flexibilty to assume a 12in wooden ruler.
