I'd agree. I was getting bored with MSN anyway, I enjoy IRCd and learning something new.

overdose, Thank you very much for providing such an informative and useful reply to my request. I wish most other posts were productive and useful I saved your response, and am answering questions of friends who are room/group owners and script users... and giving links to the most useful posts here... like yours. I adapt to new things... but grumble through the process. I went to Dalnet for a few hours and chatted/watched ... the unmasked IP display I think I'm seeing is NOT something I like Thanks Again, [glow=yellow,2,300]Cal[/glow]

IRCXPro is the most unstable piece of software I've seen for many people as it's used on a home computer (well most anyways of those who have came up with some genius idea to make an IRC server). The thing is, Ryan can vouch when I say that it can crash your computer quite badly if someone starts playing "load sockets and attacK" on the server as the memory/cpu usage goes sky high as many users' computers/OS aren't configured for high trafficing.
IRCd/IRCx is all about personal preference. I'm working on editing a java client that MSN made for Exchange 5.5 to work on an IRCd server (going to be a bit painful, but it should work soon). IRCx is just more popular because people on MSN are used to the commands and don't know how to work around what they've lived with since the dawn of their "scripting careers".

v0lume, simply ask Jas/Evil about when Draconis/Nightstorm just showed him a quick few sockets worth..and he is using the newest version with Pro License. Like I've said, many OS'es (XP Pro, 9x/ME) aren't made for that type of trafficing. No, I don't mean 10-20..I mean any traffic besides what it was intended for..that's why you never seen full-fledged networks running on Windows98 -- now do you? Granted, it doesn't have Exchange nor IIS ...but hey, there are emulators of those as well (just like IRCXPro). Jas saw there was a signifigant difference in his cpu usage when a few hundred sockets were loaded, what makes you think versions have anything to do with it when it's the OS itself that's the issue?

Actually, it was 30 sockets open (technically, only about 10 connected, and 15 knocked on the server door). 5 sockets died en route. V0lume, I'm pretty sure that it would not take much to bring the server to a grinding halt.

kinda lets some people respect how well msn keeps their systems and how many sockets many scripters load up all the time. (I would hate to pay googles bandwidth )

Yeah Freak, I've often wondered about the sheer size and scale of MSN's chat network... must be one hell of a piece of kit!
