Wonder if any of you can help me. I can't get into MSN Chat - it's been a couple of days now and it's not just me - there are loads of us! None of us has a clue why? Different error messages the main one being 'Network problem please try later'. Do you know of any problems they are having, would appreciate your help. Ta anno x

Are you using webchat?
Have you registered the wrong OCX by mistake?

If you were using a connection script to get into msnchat without using the subscription info, msn has shut off access to those connections.

Well basically i have not changed the way i sign in. I sign into MSN in the normal way and click the room i wish to get into but for the last few days i have not been able to get in. It doesn't matter what way i chose eg. from messenger, via the webpage or via a link it won't let me in. I am not sure what 'connection script' or 'subscription info' is. I am just doing what i normally do. When did MSN shut down access to these connections? I set up the room last week on my old pc (Win98) and have been able to access the room on my new pc (WinXP) but for the last two days i have just got this error. Is it me or them? Let me know if you can shed some more light on this. Thanks again. anno x

1. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options.
2. Look to the middle of the dialog that's appeared, there's a section called Temporary Internet Files. Click the "Settings" button.
3. Then click the "View Objects" button in the next dialog.
4. Find the MSN Chat Control in that list, right click and click "Remove" (or delete, whatever it's called).
5. Close Internet Explorer, then open it again and navigate to a chat room. The Chat Control should automatically download (you'll see the "click the smiley face" page first).
If the above instructions dont work, come back and tell me

Hi Akademik I have tried this too, many times. It ain't having it! Infact i have tried all the advice i have found on the web and on this forum, accept paying for it with a spoof info. I don't feel that desparate atm but if needs must. ;D I am hoping this may just be a problem with MSN as many users are having the same problems but i have done a search and cannot see any reasons as to why. I am wondering if recent downloads/updates may have made this happen. Thanks for helping me out here, much appreciated. Let me know if you think of anything else. anno x

1. what's the group name?
2. where do you live, (country)
3.
What do you mean exactly by "It ain't having it" does it force you to download the new chat control after you delete the old one and try to join?

Hi Loon
I live in the UK but set up the chat room via msn.com and it was working fine. The room name is baggers chat btw.
I deleted the chat download plus all the temp file etc - i did this offline and online. Each time i was asked to download the software again but sometimes although i was told it would have to be downloaded i didn't always see the download box, most of the time it would just say we are downloading and can you see the smiley face. Either way - i was still unable to get into chat. The same error was given that there was a Network Error and to try later.
Does this help?
