I've just had a seriously weird problem with a room I've just created. I asked someone to join, and they told me they couldnt.. I turned knocks on (+u), and saw them knocking. So I checked access...
%#test.haze Start of access entries %#test.haze HOST '*!*@*$* 0 2AC68244D7FC9849@GateKeeperPassport %#test.haze GRANT *!*4D7FC9849@GateKeeperPassport$* 0 2AC68244D7FC9849@GateKeeperPassport %#test.haze OWNER *!2AC68244D7FC9849@GateKeeperPassport$* 0 2AC68244D7FC9849@GateKeeperPassport Haze %#test.haze End of access entries
There are no deny entries there. What's going on? The only thing I could think of was the GRANT I added for myself.. does that affect anything? The room modes were +ntl 6667, so no problems there.
I took this matter to Helpdesk, and the Guide told me she couldnt help with "user created rooms". Thanks - although it seems there are double standards going on here. Back when MSN updated in October there was that issue of people not being able to join rooms because they were "full", when in reality they were far from it. I even remember Koach joining our room and telling us he was sorting it out (he reset our room in the end). So... I've brought the matter here, as I cant see a point in using Feedback (typical reply - "There is nothing we can do. Please create a new room" - this is usually 48 - 76 hours after the original email).
Any ideas? =(

This has always been like this on MSN. When ever there is a grant in access there should at least be 1 deny access. Don't ask me why... it's just so. It doesn't matter for who the deny is... just as long as there is one. Try it and you'll see it works.

simple fix, don't ever add grants, grants == bad but yes, it's always been like that.

Ok.... Why is it that when there is one grant only that person is allowed in. Why is it that when you set a ban and a grant, only the ban sticks and everyone else is allowed in. From what I've heard is that MSN uses grant sometimes when people are caught in an umbrella ban. That might be the reason it only works in combination with a ban, but I might be wrong though.

Er.. phook. I was under the impression that I would allow myself in no matter what, not "allow myself and only myself in"
My bad!
