If you mean "what is C++ used for". short answer: so many things. IE was probably partly written in C++, Messenger was, mirc was, winamp probably was, parts of Windows was, unrealircd chatserver was.....the list goes on If you mean "what can C++ be used for", well anything basically.

Most professional applications are wrote in C++, as Dangermouse said Windows was partly wrote in C++ as well as C and ASM.
