i personally think its better without a theme and i also think we used to get double the amount of entrants when we wasnt using a theme and much better entrants too so i think this should be taken into good consideration

well i voted no
i think the theme is good. yes i admit sometimes it's hard for us who arent that spectacular designers.
however, i think it forces yourself to work maybe a bit harder and think outside the square.
what i do get ticked about sometimes is stupid themes that ppl pick.
when you are picking a theme you should think back to what has made the contest enjoyable and busy with lots of entries.
sometimes more simple can be best and ppl need to remember there are first time users of the programs/applications who might be scared off with more advanced themes.
examples of those themes where ppl got involved where the egyptian theme, my purple theme, freaks love theme to name a few.

I'm not going to vote because there are good points for both yes & no. Yes it does restict the artist into another persons parameters. But also, if you are serious about your graphics as a career etc, you are going to have to be able to adapt to alot of different areas to suit your clients. So it is good practice to do the banners to a theme.

I agree with exile about both having good points, but personally i think that the theme gives people something to work with. Without the theme it just leaves it up to the imagination and i can say now i wouldn't take part as much because there's no ideas to work with Edit, i think i've just repeat myself.. lol

has there been enough votes to work out what we are actually doing for the contest or not ?
personally i dont think so..... does a mod want to monitor this more so we can have a resolution at some stage ?
to those who have NOT voted, give your votes and opinions
