Trouble with PS7

hey there, im trying to load up PS7 on my computer, so i can do a banner for the contest thing, but it wont load up! It starts to load all the brushes, fonts ect. then it just disapears. I've tried to reinstall PS7 about 3 times, but to no avail. I'm really not sure what to do now ;\.

I don't think it's to do with system specs, Photoshop can run on the slowest machines and still work.

PHOTOSHOP STALLS

Some Photoshop users hold their breath every time a launching Photoshop begins to initialize the Type Engine. These Photoshop users have learned Photoshop is most vulnerable to crashes while it searches and loads the fonts installed in the system. The sad truth is that fonts are very susceptible to corruption and that Photoshop is very sensitive to corrupted fonts. Subsequently, if a font is corrupted and Photoshop attempts to load it, Photoshop will most likely crash. If your Photoshop application is experiencing startup crashes, the best solution is to remove any fonts you installed since you last opened Photoshop. Then load each one back into the system, testing Photoshop as you go.

As an alternative to this rather lengthy solution, you can also delete your adobefnt.lst file from the Program Files/common files\adobe\fonts folder in Windows or from the System, ApplicationSupport, Adobe, Fonts folder on the Macintosh. Deleting this file forces Photoshop to rewrite its font list and possibly correct the problem.

TROUBLESHOOTING PHOTOSHOP STARTUP

The most tenuous moment in Photoshop is while it launches and initializes all its support files, such as fonts, device profiles, and so forth. In fact, a common startup error occurs while Photoshop initializes the ICC engine.

In almost every case, a simple procedure will expose the culprit. First, move all the .icm and .icc files from the Windows, System, Color directory to a new folder. Then, restart Photoshop. With all of the ICC profiles removed, Photoshop should launch.

Now for the tedious part. Shut down Photoshop and move, one at a time, only the profiles you need. After you move a profile back to the Color directory, launch Photoshop again. Continue until Photoshop bombs during startup. The last file you move is the culprit. Most likely, this means the file is corrupted.

While you troubleshoot Photoshop startup problems, keep in mind that you don't need every profile originally in the Color directory. In fact, too many profiles can slow Photoshop's startup time. Therefore, pay careful attention to the files you place in the Color directory and use only the profiles you need for the devices in your office, service bureau, or printer.

However, to adequately reduce the number of profiles, it's helpful if you know what device a profile describes.

Sometimes you can discern the true device profile from the profile filename. Fortunately, there's an easier way. Simply right-click an .icm file in Windows and choose Properties from the context menu. In the resulting dialog box, select Profile Information.

Here's one final tip when dealing with device profiles and Photoshop.

Once you have paired down the Windows, System, Color directory to only the profiles relevant to the devices you use with Photoshop, make a copy of the Color directory. This way, you can easily restore the profiles if one becomes corrupted.

if wont be ur system specs unless u have worse than me i use photoshop and i only have 64mb of ram and 700mhz processor lol

I'M EXCITED! Tell you what, I'm getting an ADSL with new unlimited and will get a new powerful computer built on Wednesday! I CAN'T WAIT so my photoshop and other gfx programs will open very quick ;D

bah I don't like this computer - its abit slow to open photoshop...
