Ok - i've been using the list view for my nicklist, its all working - including the icons for profile types / hosts etc but i have found a small problem - it scrolls sideways If I set the view property to detail view then it scrolls up and down as it should but I lose the icons (and it also shows the first SubItem field instead of the main field - in mycase the un-decoded nick) any ideas? Heres the code for propogating the nicklist. If NickListUserAway = "H" Then ' user not away If NickListUserType < 4 Then 'user is operator .Add , , NickListUserNick, , NickListUserType Else .Add , , NickListUserNick, , NickListUserProfileIcon End If Else ' user away .Add , , NickListUserNick, , (13) End If .Item(.Count).SubItems(1) = NickListUserMSNName .Item(.Count).SubItems(2) = NickListUserSortKey .Item(.Count).SubItems(3) = NickListUserGate .Item(.Count).SubItems(4) = NickListUserProfileIcon .Item(.Count).SubItems(5) = NickListUserType

P.S. All other properties for the ListView component are set at design time

Mnnnn... after some hair pulling, head scratching and swearing at the cat I've managed to sort it out.
Here's what the problem was.
Although I had added column header properties to the list to allow sub items to be added I hadn't assigned them names - this meant the list still functioned - data could be added to and retrieved from the sub items but without the column header names being assigned the list wouldnt function correctly in detail view - which it appears is the view needed for it to scroll vertically.
After adding in the column header names it works fine. Just thought I'd pass that on in case anyone else has the same problem.
