I have screwed something up with an installation probably yes, now I rather fix it then reinstall my pc.. the dll problem is probably because a dependency dll the RICHTX32.OCX needs is not the correct version or corrupt, all I can find it that the RICHTX32.OCX is the only one that doesnt say O/S 5.2 lol. Is anyone around here more skilled with what this all means, how can I know what dll is causing this? I checked Riched32.dll and Riched20.dll on its version, weather it belongs with my O/S and they do (I checked a healthy system so to speak) *edit, only my pc has the richtx32.oca, RICHTX32.DEP and RICHTEXT.SRG, maybe the problem is in those.. Inside RICHTEXT.SRG I found "[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Licenses\DC4D7920-6AC8-11cf-8ADB-00AA00C00905] @ = "iokouhloohrojhhhtnooiokomiwnmohosmsl"" wtf?? lol

From what it looks like, you either had a virus attack the DLL and inject itself, or you were doing a R/W operation and your system crashed. Or something's trying to hook the RichTextLib (not likely). Suggestions br]1) Download the MS RichText 2.0 from their website (look around, maybe it's called Rich Text or something like that). 2) Before installing, unregister (RegSvr32 /u "C:\Path\to\file" [include the quotes]) the folllowing files br]C:\Windows\System32\RichTx32.ocx C:\Windows\System32\Riched32.dll C:\Windows\System32\RichEd20.dll 3) Delete these same files 4) If Windows File Protection comes up, ignore it (it really SHOULDN'T, but if it does, hit cancel) 5) Install the rich text control you just downloaded. You must download it first, or else you may end up not being able to view the page to download it. It's not specifically for XP, but I'm pretty sure it's for 98/NT/2000 or something like that. It should still work. If not, then have someone send you the following versions of the file br] RichTx32.OCX: 6.0.88.4 (comes with VB6) RichEd32.dll: 5.1.2600.0 RichEd20.dll: 5.30.23.1211 Hope that helps!

I run server 2003 here, so they are a bit hard to find.
I'm not sure what caused it but the major problem was solved after a messenger install, its still not totally as it should be but I can live with how it is now lol.
It had something to do with VB not beeing able to make a OCA file

Oh, you should have said so. Make sure your user has Read/Write access to the folder RichEd32.dll is located in. If it's in %WinDir%\System32, you'll have to give it R/W access to %WinDir%. If you have that already, make sure that RichEd32.dll and RichTx32.ocx aren't read-only (RichEd20.dll isn't too important because it only is a depreciated interface for older apps -- it still uses RichEd32.dll).
If that still doesn't fix it, then it's probably a DLL/OCX versioning problem ("DLL Hell"). I'm pretty sure 2003 uses XP's 6.0 DLLs, but I'm not sure... I had this problem on a 98 machine when I downloaded the rich text control from TechGear (it's not your fault personally, but I guess in some upload/download operation it got corrupted -- a complete accident). Everything was fixed when I installed the Win95 RichText 3.0 update. Aside from this, it's all I can think of that would be wrong.

If that still doesn't fix it, then it's probably a DLL/OCX versioning problem ("DLL Hell"). Yeah version problem, but I didnt know wich one accept that it was a dependency of RICHTX32.OCX.. I actually still don't know lol
