ok i been on talk city and seems anice site small but it will build! Rooms are buy to own,but noone else can have that room once purchased! You have full moderation of your own rooms even a time limit for users joining! From what i see you can also use your own clients on this service as well! Support is via messageboards but so far that is quick and reliable! They have told me rooms are set to 999 users, chatters chat for free only owners have to purchase room. Now to the bit that hurts lol rooms will cost around 48 pounds to buy per year but i think well worth the money for the security! Anyways check them out read thier policies etc see what you think! www.talkcity.com/

Seems pretty secure.... I don't have the money right now but the security side of it seems pretty good. I'm not sure how much 48 pounds is in Australian dollars but it seems ok, is it worth your money in pounds?

There's 2 types of IRC. IRCx and IRCd. The IRCd rooms I visit are free, I'm only 17 years old and really don't want to pay $100 + a year to own a chat room lol so I'd rather stick to free IRCd servers.

Talk city was one of the most popular city chatroom hangouts before msn. several years back when they started charging for chatting everyone moved to msn. i still have group links from phoenix for people who chatted there because we were . it will be nice to see who all transfers
