I got an e-mail from the MSN group Grapevine, maybe this can help you. Thank you everybody for the tidal wave of emails to me from people who are getting messages saying they are "banned" from chat. Yesterday, MSN added some new scripting to the software and it's affected a lot of people, myself included. From what I can see, MSN is now demanding that you have Internet Explorer 4.7 and above, preferably Internet Explorer 6. If you have been using an earlier version of Internet Explorer e.g. I.E.3, MSN pages (and Hotmail) will now not let you proceed until you have installed a more recent version of Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, the script appears to be trying to look at your system files to find out what version you're using. I'm using I.E.5.5, but because I'm behind a firewall at work, MSN & Hotmail are not being allowed to access that information and I can't therefore fully access my account. And that's where the problem is starting, because many people, particularly those (lazy buggers) amongst you that are trying to chat from work, are behind a high security firewall. Depending on the firewall setting, MSN's script may be being prevented from looking at your system files and making itself happy that you're using a more recent IE browser. And when it can't access those files, it decided that you're using a very early version of Internet Explorer and prompts you time and time again to download version 6 (regardless of whether you have or not). Once that has happened, the Reserved Chat Nickname links no longer work (people show up as being non-members, even though they are. I know this to be true, because it was telling me, your s**y beast of an Assistant Group Manager that I was not a member today!) And if people are showing as non-members to the system (even though they are) then the chat module treats them the same as banned members. Which is why they can't get into chat. I don't know what the solution is, but that's how it appears to be working at the moment. I'm sure somebody will address it soon. Please be patient. Hope that helped you [edit] umm....lol...if your a member you have probobly seen that already...sorry didint see that but i'll leave it there incase you havent seen it...
