Our longest night is on the 21th of december, it is also our shortest day, we only have have a few hours daylight and the sun keeps hanging close to the horizon, my mother doesnt selebrate anything religious, she is kind of anti-adam-and-eva idea.. she says she selebrates the sun if finally comming closer again after the 21st lol.. so nope it doesnt have to be religious at all.

Neither, religion should be an individuals personal choice, not something you jam down a childs throat. Sure teach them to be spiritual, but to me religion is a form of control. Just something else to rebel against.

schools here got arround it so much. christmas break changed to winter break. in school prayer changed to a moment of silence. and the ability to take a religous class as long as you arn't able to get school credit for it.

yea, in the uk its all christian holidays with xmas holiday, easter holidays, prayers in the hall each day, and if your not christian, ts you have to comply else your kid gets expelled for not joining in (this does happen), you have to take your holidays during christian holidays and if your jewish, muslim, they will make slight ajustments but any spiritual religions such as paganism or buddism is laughed at and pretty much taken as an offencive word, but some places are becomming better at including other cultures religions, though it will never get into schools, thanks to the government, lol

and from origin xmas and easter are religious events ... but around here not many ppl look at those happenings that way ... it is celebrated in schools, but not with telling we celebrate because of this this and this religious facts

nothing in religion is a fact, there isnt any evidence to back it up from jesus down to satan, budda down to merlin (though interestingly science believes the people existed, just wernt associated with religions)

We have diffrent schools here in holland, they are also diffrent religion orientated like we have Christian schools but also Katholic or Protestant maybe even Islamic..

so its not discriminating here

so you cover all the angles of the "god" debate, do you have pagan schools, buddism schools, etc? dont be fooled, there are a LOT of followers of these faiths, lol (millions to be precise)

santa clause was an actual living person, he was a believer in christianity but helped those who were not christian also, he was a generous man in his day who gave gifts to those in middle, lower and the "poor" classes of society, hes considered a saint because of his charitable work, not because of christian teachings so if you aint christian i see no reason why not to bring up your kids believing in a guy that wanted to help makind so used all of his money and riches to give the poor, gifts on that one day a year in his country

I hope I don't offend anyone here, lol, but I believe that some religion does need to be taught in schools, myself. Note that I said "some". For instance I disagree with teaching satanism, and such, because in many of their teachings I have heard that they sacrifice people to the devil, and such. I've never been a satanist. So, I don't know what all they do. However, I do know that most of it is bad.

i know satanists real ones not teenagers who wanted to be worse then goth , i believe in one single thing....


The only way for children to be able to choose a faith they really do believe in and have any chance of becomming what they want to be is if YOU the parents give them the oppertunity, YOU chose your religion, let them, no matter what it is and let them be what they want to be, schools are there to teach, so why not teach EVERY area of religion, including satanism, when the kid is older and he/she becomes a true believer in something then at least then they will have learned about all the religions they can choose from and be able to make a non biased opinion, making kids only learn the ones that believe in god is purely and simply biased discrimination and you are in fact forcing your kids to believe in something, and that is why the christian faith has been lagging in believers in the UK lately, because kids just arnt interested cause they got sthingyfed only that in school and by the time their old enough to make a decision they will be so sick to the death of being forced to only learn that in a subjective opinion they would prefer to be anything but christian (and this comes from me comming from a school that only taught christian and a bit about jewish beliefs) and every person in that school i knew told me they hated it.

in summery, the only way your kids will truely believe in anything is if you teach them about all religions and allow them to fit into whatever they think makes the most sence to them i know its hard not to want your kids to be satanists but truthfully the ones i do know are pretty nice people, they just dont share the views of christians (if thats what you consider evil)

satanists believe that god does exist but they dont want him to be a part of their lives, they used to sacrifice people in the old days but dont anymore and remember christians... your the guys who sacrificed people too (quote witch burnings), lol, they believe in the devil as a spiritual leader, (he did used to be an angel), and their bible declares that life is more important then death and that they should live their lives to the full and do what it takes to get them where they want to be. (there are some things that seem bad but no-one actually pratices them anymore, they revised the whole thing to keep to the law)

There was one day not too long ago when my older brother told me that in a school he was sending his children to, they were teaching witch craft, and how to cast spells, and such. Does this have anything to do with morality, and respect for life, and for others? I, myself donot think so. From this illustration it shows me that the person who cast spells, and such seeks to gain power for themselves. However, the Christian belief teaches us to lift our brother or sister higher than ourselves. Which means we should seek for the health, and well being of others before ourselves.

wow thats good that they have a school for spiritualists and pagans, warrior its a common thing for christians to think that witchcraft is bad and evil, but it isnt, witches dont get their spells from the devil, nor their powers, mainly cause they dont believe in him, witches have something simular to the bible which many abide by, its called the wiccan rede, it states that you should only use magick to help and aid others, if you use spells for personal gain, wiccans believe that the spell will backfire 3 times of its origional power, they call this the threefold effect, many pagans dont believe in the threefold effect so they do spells for themselves but its mainly used for helping others

in my experience spells dont often work on yourself witches manipulate their enviroment by moving energy, if you tried moving your own energy you might mess yourself up more then you started, lol

I have heard stories from my parents before how that back in "The days" if there was anyone sick on a farm that neighbors would come to that home, and help with the farm land, and in doing chores, and such until the owner of that farm got well.

heres some history for you warrior when henry the 8th was the british king there was no healthcare, when all the monks departed and no longer offered help from their monestrys due to henry the 8th forcing them out when people got sick there were no-one to help them, the monks no longer offered help to them and do you know who they went to for help... witches yep, the witches went round healing people with herbs, medicenes and spells and kept the country going, and then christians got back into things, had the witch burnings and decided as the witches praticed something that was considered not a skill of god (healing people) they hung them all!

christianity might teach morality to you but whats moral to you may not be to others.

everyone has different morels, reigion doesnt come into this, morels are where you draw the line to your actions, religion is a personal opinion

summery of convo, allow schools to teach and allow all religions, we love santa, satanists are nice people, no preaching plz, allow religious holidays for each individual person, religion aint facts or morels, keep schools for spiritualists, let your kids choose any religion they want and teach them equal amounts of each, history proves that what we consider bad may not be bad and what we consider good may not be good, , goddess bless witches and boom daadee boom im all finished

PS: sorry it seems one sided, im not against christians, i just believe to give everyone a fair chance so i stated it as to the facts as i can , christians do have good morels but the point is, if your christian or a buddist, does it matter? if you drain all the personal beliefs outta it they both boil down to the same thing, helping each other and yourself to become the best person you can be

and to add my stick in here as athiest. schools have no right teaching right from wrong and morality. parents teach that. schools doing so would be like saying to someone that believes something else that even education states they are wrong.

aslong as even though i don't believe in a god any god as well as any spiritual being doesn't mean i don't have morals and that i don't know right from wrong. my mom was very good at teaching me that right was an idea not an action. and to do right you must think selflessly. along with morals i think that i make them up. i live how i want to and that doesn't mean i live badly

You know Alex, I actually agree with you. I do think children should be educated to the history, ideals and beliefs of all religions. In present day and in history their wars and conflict over religion. If everyone was educated about the others, many would see they are not so different in thier beliefs and ideals. They may have different names for what they believe, but in its most basic sense, most believe in much the same thing. The only downside is, it is hard to for some teachers to educate with out emphasizing and pushing thier own personal beliefs. And that is not only religion that is a problem in schools, it is also politics.

Educating children so they know their differences are not so different would be the ultimate first step towards tolerance, and wide spread tolerance would bring us closer to a peaceful world. Instead we have religious leaders teaching thier congregation why all the other religions are wrong and evil which inturn breeds hate. Would it not be better to respect anothers beliefs? Even though I think Satanists are morons for what they believe, I respect their right to be the morons of the world. And on a side note Alex, in the US, sacrafice in satanic rituals is still widely practiced. They may use goats, sheep and chickens instead of humans(mostly anyway) but it still happens. As does the human sacrafice.

Teach history, the basis, and what they believe or do not believe in an outlined form. Do not teach what to believe or not to believe.

Sorry, thats BS, they do not force christianity upon you. I remember when i was in primary school you were allowed to sit outside, or do something else if you were not a christian.

theres quite a few who would miss assemblies when i was a t school because they were of a diff religion to christianity and didn't want to hear the gizzum spawned on us by teachers. i hate religion in schools. morals can be taught without religion

We setup the tree and put the presents around it in our home each year. But our family is about the furthest from religion as you can get. We have Religious classes at school, they are optional, but they take up 1/6 of the day, which means one lesson at our school, so i take it .

I think Religion should be allowed in schools but it should be Optional. Its not right to force a religion onto someone. Whereas if they make the choice, then thats okay... as it was their choice to make.[/i][/color][/font]
